They had a good and widespread show business sometimes throughout the state of West Bengal, but now they are not anymore seen in the localities of suburbs of urban areas. Earlier a snake charmer in the streets was a common sight. Now both the the profession and the professionals are diminishing quickly in this computer age. Only some are surviving by supplying snake venom to the labs. Here a snake charmer's wife is seen in the street of a suburb near Calcutta begging for alms showing her snakes.
