Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Looking for Mallary

We're back in Laguna Beach and as we walked through the village and past the Hobie Surf Store this afternoon, Mr. Fun asked me if I thought we'd see Mallary today. Of course that brought a smile to my face and launched a conversation about how unbelievable it was to bump into Mal and her family when they were here in July.

We are staying at a very nice, but also very inexpensive, motel. We discovered this place a month ago. This photo reveals the view of the path leading to Shaw's Cove which is just a few yards from our room.

Mr. Fun phoned to reserve this room before we took the recent roadtrip to northern California. He requested the same room we had stayed in when we were here last month.

So today when he phoned to confirm our reservation, the hotel manager, John, told Mr. Fun that we would have the "honeymoon suite"! We really kind of thought this was a joke. A month ago the manager had told us that the "honeymoon suite" was a little smaller, but had its own private deck. He also said it was a little bit more money. On the phone this morning he told Mr. Fun that he was giving us the room for the same fee as the room we had last month.

When we arrived early this afternoon, we were thrilled to discover that this room isn't any smaller, the private deck has a view of the pathway and a small bit of the sand at Shaw's Cove. We have a sitting room, a bedroom, a bathroom, a closet, and a small refrigerator and small microwave. We'll be calling this home for the next several days.

This evening we walked to the free shuttle stop, waited just a few moments, then rode the shuttle to "The Sawdust Festival." A month ago we purchased a season pass to the three current art festivals, but at that time we only got to attend the Festival of Arts which is a lovely open air gallery of art with lots of live musical entertainment and it is also home to the Pageant of the Masters.

Summer temperatures have finally arrived here at the coast. The weather is delightful. Because we're vacationing I have hardly been commenting . . . I apologize. I'll be back to "Blip-normal" when vacation days are concluded; until then it'll just be hit and miss as I catch a moment or two to view Blipfoto on my iPhone, but typing comments on my phone is frustrating. So thank you to everyone who continues to comment here even though I am vacationing.

Good night for the sand at the Pacific's edge in Laguna.

P.S. Has anyone had any luck posting a blip page from an iPad? I can't seem to get the app to allow me to upload a photo. Help!
