Orchid

Just love orchids - beautiful gorgeous flowers - and so many varieties and colours to choose from it's like picking sweeties.

But we're not so hot at keeping them :(

Have bought loads over the last few years - sure it must be in double figures by now - and despite our very best efforts there's only 2 or 3 of them that have re-flowered once the first "shop bought" stem has lost all its stunning petals.

However the excitement when we see a new shoot coming out is just fab - we gaze excitedly at it and try and rack our brains trying to remember what blossoms this particular plant will be giving us!

The orchids in the shower room (of all places - must be the heat and the steam!) do the best - but this morning found one downstairs in the lounge that has just begun to open up it's petals.

It is rather beautiful and has made me smile all day.
