Buu...er

I always remember my mum getting annoyed by my youthful dropping of the t's in butter, letting it slur out as buu'err. I never really got how it was so annoying until today.

Two days back at nursery and Bethany is dropping t's from loads of words. Rocke' (rocket), scoo'ah (scooter) and others. She was doing it before the summer but it's only emerged back since she got back to nursery so I guess she's picking it up from someone she plays with there.

So grating and I had to keep repeating words back at her correcting them. I'm the first person to advocate the artistic use of language and don't mind if she settles into a local accent but I just can't stick lazy language.

I don't think she likes being called Be'any, so that's probably a good incentive.
