I wanna win, I want that trophy!
Yesterday in a rush, after a hectic day, I blipped a photo of a rainy window. I wasn't very happy with it and it seems neither was blipworld judging by the lack of views and comments.
However, I did say that I'd blip one of the trophies in that picture and here it is....the World's ugliest trophy. I won it in 2006 at a match on the Adlington Canal.
The experts on the match all fished against the far bank of the canal, I drew peg 14 out of 14, the end peg, which is supposed, on a canal to be the best, because the fish have been "walked" up to the end by all the anglers getting to the other pegs. I couldn't reach the far side of the canal , so I fished in the middle with two pinkies(tiny housefly maggots) on the hook.
I only caught two fish..............but they were two biggish bream, weighing in at 5lb 13oz. The other 13 competitors caught lots of fish........small ones......their total combined weight came to only 3lb 7oz.
That same year I also won the Specimen Prize, kind of the best fish caught.for a Tench weighing 3lb 12oz. Tench are a beautiful olive green colour, but very slimy. They are sometimes known as Doctor fish or Nurse fish because of an old myth that the slime has healing properties and injured fish will rub up against Tench to heal wounds, sores etc.
I don't know about that but I do know if you catch one, handle it, and then forget to rinse your hands, it doesn't half make your sandwiches taste funny!!!!
