Birch with Swing and Shadow

This is a magnificent old white birch just off the modest screen porch of the family house where we're staying this week, in Tamworth NH. (The porch is just out of sight to the right.)

The view from the porch (including this birch tree) is especially wonderful near sunset, as here. The main view is basically that shown in a blip from 25 July. This blip was taken from roughly the same spot, turning about 150 degrees to the right.

That porch is my favorite spot anywhere for a pre-dinner drink--and the birch alone is mesmerizing in the setting sun.
