We're going on a nature hunt, I'm not scared.

It went something like this.

"Dad?"

"Yes Alice."

"What can we do today?"

"How about a bike ride?"

"Nope."

"OK, how about doing some gardening?"

"Nope"

"Well what would you like to do?"

Shrugs shoulders.

"How about a tickle?"

Lots of giggling and wriggling.

"I know how about a nature hunt?"

"Yeah!"

So armed with clip boards, pens and a chart drawn by your truly we set off to see how many butterflies, spiders, ants etc. we could find.

Two and a half hours and 4 miles of great fun on a glorious afternoon that allowed Alice to show her prowess at spotting leaves and flowers.

Tom got bored after 10 minutes and started collecting stones.

So at the end of it Alice had spotted 17 butterflies, 3 spiders, 5 webs, 87 flowers and 3 ants. Plus a variety of things that weren't on her chart.

I ended up with 2 CWT of stones that Tom had collected, 1 lump of blue concrete and the obligatory stick.

Great fun.
