Hanging fire

Many years ago I gathered these stones from the beach in Etretat, Normandy. Time and tide had worn holes in them, and I strung them together with wire. They hang from a dead cherry tree in our garden that has yet to be chopped down.

Blah day. Rain. Wind. Gloom.

Feeling quite upset about the seven eight Hong Kong tourists shot dead by a former police officer in Manila. The hostage situation was badly handled and the tragedy will have serious repercussions on an already floundering tourist industry in my country, which is one of the poorest in Asia. Many poor Filipinos depend on tourism for their livelihood. The blame game has begun, and justice will probably hang fire as it often does in the Philippines. It will be a huge test for our new president.

My thoughts go out to the victims and their families.
