Montana Fair ~ Rooster

I went to the fair today and was tremendously impressed by the 4H Pavilion. 4H began in the early 1900s as an attempt to bring hands on, research based, graduated learning to the youth of rural, agricultural areas. The values they work on revolve around their 4 H's ~ Head, Heart, Hands and Health. Over six and a half million youths are involved in the USA alone. Around 450 Montana 4Hers came to the fair this year, bringing about 3,000 animals that they themselves had cared for ~ in every way and on every day!

There were gerbils and rabbits, chickens and geese, goats, sheep, pigs, cows and even some positively enormous bulls. What impressed me most, of course, was the dedication it took in the students. I was also amazed, however, by the great thought and good sense that had been involved in bringing those students up to such a high standard in such a solid way.

I, on the other hand, don't even know what sort of rooster I've photographed here. I liked the look of it, though, and all its blue ribbons show that the judges did, too!
