QTAPOA night!
One of those days where I was aware that I hadn't taken a photo all day and then at night when the kids where asleep I couldn't keep my eyes open so knew I just had to take a photo of anything and get to bed. Strangely enough I do like the reflection on the DVD of the roof, so not the worst QTAPOA I've ever done.
Today this happened...
Dunfermline Athletic 0-5 Hamilton Academical
East End Park
Attn: 2,500
I haven't reported on a match for a bit but its also been a while since we played at home. Feelings where high for a good result today as I walked to East End Park but it was also eerily quiet, I was expecting a much larger crowd for a very important match. If your not following the progress in the Scottish First Division you would have been unaware that the Accies are top of the table and looking good. Dunfermline where fourth and if they where to have a chance of catching Hamilton and fight for the championship today was a must win. Oh dear.
Hamilton started well with lets face it a very soft goal, reminded me of the goal they had against us at the very start of the season. However that was the only similarity as Hamilton have now grown into a strong attacking side as us poor Pars fans found out. The second goal was very opportunistic after a mistake from the defence and our goalkeeper, their lad easily just ran the ball in.
Hamilton's top scorer Offiong scored a brilliant third goal and received applause from the Pars fans along with the fifty or so Hamilton fans that had bothered to travel over from the West side of the country. From then on it was all over. Second half started just as miserably for the Pars as after just two touches of the ball and again a defence mistake they had scored again. The fifth followed not long after.
I'd say half of the Dunfermline support had left the ground by then, those that remained where a mixture of desperately upset and annoyed at their team performance and the other half including myself found the blundering of our team almost comical. Hamilton where strong and impressive, if they continue like this they deserve to win the league and promotion. Dunfermline face the fact that they are just not going to get out the league this season. Half of the team will be gone by the start of the next season (5 first team players have their contracts running out in January so no doubt they will desert the sinking ship) and we will have to look to our youth team and signings from lower divisions to start to build again.
Football eh, its a funny old game!
