Windpump skeleton

There's this abandoned villa I pass by daily, on the bus. It's an enormous building, two storey high, and its broken windows, graffiti-covered walls and vines cannot hide the fact that it must have been the home of a wealthy family.

Today I decided to walk to work. It was not a very smart thing to do in August, as the 40 minute walk resulted in a very sweaty shirt, but it gave me the opportunity to take a closer look at the ignored villa and appreciate the still beautiful building.

As the main entrance (or what I think was the main entrance) has no longer any doors, I was able to enter the small hall and look up a long stairway. It apparently ends on a small yard where the skeleton of a windpump still rests. I'll have to go up those stairs one day, when I have more time.

There's charm in these abandoned buildings but at the same time, it's obviously sad to see them in this sorry state.

Who does this old house belong to? Is it forgotten in bureaucracy? Will it ever regain its splendor or will it, most likely, end in a piece of rubble?
