Sustenance Will Be Accomplished!
This is a picture of Scout. He was yesterday's blip as well with the soft Elizabethan Collar. Well, THAT one was not a success and I had feared it wouldn't be. I came home from an evaluation for Liam at Kaiser today only to find out he could reach his surgery sight with the soft-collar version. Back to the vet again to go for the good old-fashion satellite-dish type of collar. The vet tech kept warning us that he'll take out our shins with it and could hurt the boys. I assured her that my boys are tough...it she wanted to find out she could witness their fights during disputes. So the exchange for the collar went well, aside from him not being able to judge distances and running into everything...yes, including my shins. I expected this, though, as this certainly wasn't my first pet with this awful contraption. I'd much rather have him wear this, though, than to pop his stitches gnawing away at the sights.
Today was a bit trying. Had to go to Kaiser to get the results of Liam's ADHD evaluation....and without surprise they don't think he has it. I told them I didn't think so, but they put him through the evaluation because it was a stepping stone to further evaluations. Liam's my sweet, loving boy but struggles with impulse control. The person that shared the results with me said 'The good news is that your boy is SMART' and the bad news is 'That your boy is SMART' :) I understood what he was telling me. Looking inwards to your parenting style is always difficult, but necessary during a meeting such as this. I'm sure there are plenty things that I can improve. We will go back and hopefully get some more help for him in redirecting anger/impulse issues that he has at home and I'm glad we have the resources for it.
The evening was all about soccer again and accomplishing homework for all 3 as well as helping Loren with a final draft for his personal narrative. He chose the narrative to be about the time he found out he needed glasses and spoke about the experience and his feelings on that subject. Gary made clam chowder on bread bowls. Yummy! Once 9:30 came around and even Loren was asleep, we managed through a small bit of TV before dozing off.
