"Denecht Power Scheme 1923" - what we would now term 'an investment in renewables' developed by the Cowdray family on their Dunecht Estate west of Aberdeen in the early 1920s.

I used to drive past here quite regularly, and thought for ages that the weir had been created simply to create a duckpond. Then one day I noticed the inscription, and realised the significance of the scheme.
