Leadhills
Hubby away playing golf again today, so I took the kids down to my mum & dad's for the day (and to cadge dinner, of course!).
We went for a wee drive up over the hills to Leadhills and Wanlockhead, as they're very close - and took the kids for a trip on the Leadhills & Wanlockhead Narrow Gauge Railway, which was originally built to enable transport of lead from the various mines & pits in the area back down to the main roads & railway line. Doesn't quite get to Wanlockhead anymore right enough - the landowner just over the Dumfries & Galloway border won't grant access to the railway (restored and run by a dedicated set of volunteers) to get there. The railway line stops short at Glengonnar Halt, before heading back down to the wee station at Leadhills - where this photo was taken. You can just see the edges of the little rusty wagons used to carry the mined lead, sitting in a siding next to the railway line.
And a lovely sunny day it was too, although a bit chilly! Pity it's the end of the weekend and its back to work tomorrow... :-(
Oh, and wee D did another poo in the bath again this evening. How delightful. My mum's bath too... At least she was laughing about it!
