28th August - Laying ghosts to rest

Yesterday was my Mums birthday. Back in 1993, the day after my mums birthday, also a saturday 28th Aug, I got married. It was a short marriage over by '96 and although my wedding day was 17 years ago, being so close to Mums birthday has made it difficult to forget the anniversary even though I am now very happy with the love of my life.

This year however I have created a new memory which will finally change my memories of the day. I didn't choose this day on purpose but realised the date yesterday as usual.

By sheer co-incidence today was the day we picked up our new baby. Tess is 3 years old and is a new companion for our boys Marley and Ty. We drove to her foster home in Hampshire to collect her and she is comfortably installed in her new bed as I type.

From now on 28th August will be her anniversary with us. A happy happy memory.
