The last days of summer
Aye, it was the first day for a long time that getting up was chilly and I knew it was time to bring the white t-shirts back into service. That's the difference between the summer and winter wardrobe.
Lazily, after the weekend's camping I decided to catch the bus to the station and walking to the bus stop saw the bright warm morning sun lighting up a flat calm Forth as the tide was turning. Most irritatingly the bus decided to come three minutes early rather than the usual five minutes late so no harbour photos.
Nice wander round Edinburgh and up Calton Hill. The sun was so lovely that I decided to forsake the Heinz Beanz can perched on a window ledge and the wee snooped vision of a future corporate hell for a rather hackneyed view of Edinburgh. But it might be the last sunny day we see. And if you can make out the clock you can see that I've only left myself two minutes to get to the other end of Princes Street to start work. Erk. But then I knew it was going to be the most excruciatingly dull day reading a 300 page document of unbelievable tedium.
I didn't know then that I'd have the excitement of getting one of the ear buds from my headphones stuck in my ear. And I didn't know that I'd have to prise it out with a pen. And I didn't know that there'd be a wee cheque waiting from the camera shop. Or plum cake and custard for pudding. Joy.
