NS 2459
This evening I visited a small Dutch town called Beekbergen. This place is well known for its very large steam train depot. The volunteers of the 'Veluwse Stoomtrein Maatschappij (VSM)' that are maintaining the trains were quite friendly and therefore allowed me to take some pictures.
Actually, the guys were very busy preparing all the locs for a big event this Saturday and Sunday. On those days, a lot of steam trains as well as diesel trains (total of at least 15!) will be riding between a couple of towns in the area. These trains are actually allowed to ride across the normal railways since they have all safety and security systems in place.
The NS 2459 Diesel loc on the photo was already fully prepared and cleaned. Just waiting for the busy weekend to come.
The guys told me that some of the steam locs need up to 40 hours to fully get under steam. Therefore, some locs can be seen already heating up from Thursday evening onwards.
If you like old trains and are able to go to Beekbergen and surroundings this weekend, make sure you do. I'm sure it's really worth it!
