Nettle Soup
Joe has been studying all about World War II at school over the last term, and it has complete captivated him. He's been so very interested in the 'story' of the war - the tales of children being evacuated, rationing, making use etc etc. He keeps asking if I've ever had nettle soup - which I haven't. So I've got Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage cookbook from the library.
Unfortunately the best nettles to use are the stinging variety and whilst they are young shoots - so not really now, but hey ho - I might just keep that recipe for next year and speak to the butcher about some rabbit instead.
