City Hall
Cardiff is fortunate to have such a splendid set of civic buildings - part of the Bute inheritance and a legacy of its "coal money". Built before it was a capital city, the skyline of Cathays Park is filled with wonderful vistas - this one being City Hall. No longer the centre of municipal government, but a centre for ceremonial business - including the Registry Office (re-located from Park Place).
On a wonderful August day, the Welsh Dragon hardly moving on its flagpole, this picture looks towards the clock-tower where a Peregrine Falcon pair have made their nest for the past couple of years. A wonderful addition to the Cardiff bird-scene and a welcome addition also to the anti-seagull, and anti-pigeon measures.
