Magdy has been driving taxis on the streets of Cairo for 25 years. He has three daugthers (aged seventeen, twelve and seven), a good level of English and enough charm to coax an extra 17LE out of my pocket for the fare. En route, his lightning fast reflexes avoided a collision at a junction, and I learned the Arabic for 'speed bump' (matuhb-sin'aye) and 'U-turn' (lifoo~errguh).
