Salmon Habitat

I went out today to photograph one of the current NSEA (Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association) projects. We're essentially creating a stream which will provide salmon access to prime habitat. The blip shows large woody debris being placed to create channel diversity. The structures being formed are anchored to sunken posts by cables threaded through drilled holes. You can see this in my Flickr photos.

The site is readily accessible by road, so it wasn't necessary to charter a helicopter for this project.

A few years from now, this will look just like a natural stream.
