A Flock of Kites

Almost straight out of the camera this one, the light around the Hillfoots earlier needed no enhancement whatsoever as it was effortlessly stunning in all its gloriously golden Septemberness.

As a fantastic bonus too I managed to catch this flock of Kites heading off to roost. I must've spooked them as I walked along next to the field they were in and they flew up out of the grass into the sunset.

Pretty sure they're Red Kites but I'll have a look through Euan's Big Book of British Birds just to make sure. Maybe some of you Bill Oddie types could take a swatch at the Larger version to see if you can spot any distinguishing features.

And, whilst we're on the subject of sunshine, why in then name of Michael Fish and John Kettley couldn't the weather be like this up here in July and August?

Sigh...
