Thanks so much for the comments yesterday. It's great to hear from you. I had a slightly bumpy ride, what with losing a bag, starting a full-time job a week after arriving, and living out of a suitcase. My cargo has been delayed too.

This was taken today while out looking at houses. I've been around lots of places, but my reaction is a bit like she of the three bears story. I am holding out for something just right. Luckily, a kind-hearted soul I work with is letting me rent a room on a week by week basis until I find my own place.

It's been a bit hard adapting to life here. I know, it may sound ungrateful, but there are a lot of small difficulties. I feel very lacking in energy - sapped by the humidity. It sounds strange, but I am finding the weather here tougher than in Qatar.

My experience of Sri Lanka so far is the daily commute to work, colleagues' parties, and trips to the supermarket(s). Everyone has been really helpful and kind at work, but the new job has been a steeeep learning curve. Interesting but quite all-encompassing. That's why I haven't been blipping. It took me a while to get an Internet connection etc etc.
