Bridge 81

Taken by Bridge 81 on the Leeds Liverpool Canal and showing the old cottages in the distance.

First proposed in the 1760's, at 127 miles long it was to be nearly 40 years before it was fully completed.

I can't help but ponder on the thoughts of the travellers on their barges as they passed under this small stone bridge in centuries past...

Something of an open highway for them!
