Road Runner Pauses

This Road Runner stood still for at least 30 seconds so he could pose for this portrait. He allowed me time to dig out my camera and get set up.

It is unusual for these birds to pause. Maybe he was digesting a lizard that perhaps didn't agree with him.

Road Runners have been known to catch and eat rattlesnakes. They grab the snake and then bash them around like a bullwhip until the snake is dead. Then they either eat it or take it home for the kids to eat (more or less).
