this week, i moved over yonder, not far from where i lived before, and thus i have a new train stop. i'm pretty petulant about change so i don't really like my new place yet, but in a month i'll be over it and feeling much better about everything. the people i'm living with are really nice and i love my new neighborhood (mt washington), so i'm optimistic, but begrudgingly.

today was notable for a couple reasons. for one, it was the first saturday i've had off work in what feels like forever. i had a serious craving for chinese dumplings so i met my friend in chinatown for dinner, but first i went to the grand central market and did some downtown exploring. it was 101 in my hood today but it must have been 105 downtown because i absolutely baked. summer arrived late this year but it did so with a fury.

the other reason today was notable is that our dinner tonight was simply the worst dining experience i've had since moving to LA. i did extensive dumpling research on yelp but it was all for naught. the food was terrible and the service was hostile, so we headed to the good girl dinette in highland park, which was fantastic. i even lifted my coffee ban for the evening to have some of their sweet iced coffee. yum. i'm paying for it now, but it was worth it.

more pictures on my flickr, including a picture of the stairs i have to carry my bike up, taken specifically for my grandma.
