Waiting for the fireworks
The Edinburgh Festival last-night fireworks are always worth a look. I prefer to be on Princes Street, with the explosions going off right above my head, but was persuaded this year to watch from Inverleith Park, which is at least a mile away from the action. It was a bit less dramatic for that, but in compensation there was a live feed of the concert music that accompanies the fireworks, something I've never managed to hear before.
My heart did sink a little when I saw dozens and dozens of photographers with tripods and long lenses in the park, all of whom I'm sure did a better job than me of capturing the action. This instead is a shot of some of the other spectators waiting for the first big bang.
