THE LITTLE RED HOUSE ON THE RIVER

Is it the same the world over? Does everybody do laundry on Monday? The riverside houses are all decked out in it but the red house stands out, small and intriguing. Over the past few weeks the big arched door at the bottom has been transformed from ugly plywood cladding to this very nice wrought iron. I wonder if they will paint the lean-to? I do hope so.

The red paint is quite fresh and will fade to pink eventually. The color is called ox blood because paint was once actually coloured with ox blood. It is one of the three permitted colours. You can have white, chrome yellow or ox blood or any combination thereof.

The scruffy bit in the foreground is the river bank which is running quite low just now. All of the riverside houses have little balconies with views of the river and all that goes on there. There were ducks and sea gulls today, a roost of pigeons and several people wading in the river. There was one man sun bathing almost nudo, not a pretty sight.

I hope you all are doing your unstaged selections. I went through in three goes. My index finger is just now recovering from RSI.
