Simply The Best

Modern day footballers may be paid huge sums of money that past players could only dream of, but I doubt if any of them could have quite the same effect on people as George Best.

Growing up in the 60's this man was my idol.

Not just a sublime footballer he was also a style icon and was the first real football superstar.

I had the good fortune to see him play in the flesh when he briefly played for Hibs. A bit slower, and a bit fatter, he still showed flashes of brilliance.

A larger than life character off the pitch George never had his problems to seek, but on the pitch he was a genius.
