Feng Shui & Lion Dancers
Today was the official opening of our offices. Day's like today are when I really realise quite how far away from home I really am.
When I first arrived it was Chinese New Year and a friend worked for a company who had a Feng Shui master come into the offices for a New Year Feng Shui health check. My friend got an email a couple of days later saying that the offices would be closed the day that everyone was due back from Chinese New Year because it was a bad Feng Shui day. The email went on to say that if people really had to come in then they should under no circumstances use the kettle.... all because of Feng Shui. Bizarre. But also quite lovely that this tradition and belief still exists even today.
So ever since we've moved into the new offices our company logo has been shrouded in a red cloth but today the cloth was taken down, a pair of lion dancers came in and we all shared a BBQed pig... highlight of today was the MD having to try to catch shredded lettuce being spat out of the lion's mouth (the lettuce represents good fortune so by catching the lettuce you catch the good fortune...).
Today's blip is the edge of my desk with the lion dancers in the background. NOt the greatest shot but a very, very bizarre sight. The lions came round to each desk and danced round it - well here's to good Feng Shui...
