Sculpture

This is a detail shot of the focal point sculpture at the Cancer Survivors Park in Rancho Mirage, CA. The sculpture is designed by renowned Mexican sculptor Victor Samones according to the brochure. It is comprised of eight life-sized figures passing through a maze depicting cancer treatments. It made me think back to my father's battle with Leukemia - how he kept going in for treatment after treatment. While they didn't cure him permanently, they allowed him to spend more time in this world than originally given when first diagnosed.

The park does provide "a message of hope" for those friends who are battling cancer and winning. Hopefully they will join the 8.4 million Americans who the park tells us are still with us even after learning they have cancer.
