Snails in a row

I had to settle for a snap using the camera phone by the mill pond today. Found these little fellas lined up on the fence, they were up to something, but there was no time to sit around waiting to see what it was.

Minutes earlier a fabulous heron emerged from the bullrushes and flew off over the trees like a huge pterydactyl. Needless to say, I missed the shot!
