I took an idea from the guy I stayed with in Pittsburgh and took my camera and light to a party. It was very fun, and although I didn't get everyone I got some pictures I'm very happy with. This was the best one.

If you have a light, an umbrella, and a digital camera, and you're going to parties and not doing this, stop. Doesn't need to be fancy studio strobes - I used a Vivitar hotshoe flash and a silver umbrella, corded to the hotshoe of my garden-variety SLR. A nice compact with a hotshoe would have worked fine too!

It was really fun.
