Maths homework

Homework on a Wednesday night is always tough because the kids go kayaking and we don't normally get back until 8:30. Luckily, my son only had two pieces - RS and maths.

One of the maths questions went something like this:

A cuboid of volume 36cm² has a square base of length y cm. The height is 2cm more than the side of the base. Show that y3 + 2y² =36. (The first part should say y to the power 3)

Pretty tough for a 12 year old. Luckily, mum was wearing her maths hat.
