First day of volunteering today

Red squirrel surveying at Tentsmuir forest. Got up at 5am but well worth it. I had to survey 2km for SNH Scottish National Heritage. I found 2 squirrels both of which were red which was good. I also saw roe deer running away a heron flying towards the sand dunes. I heard woodpeckers and I got chased away from a nest by an angry finch that I'm sure was swearing at me. Luckily when I got home I had 0 ticks... apparently they like the groin area :( but none! so way hey!!
Good start to any day and well worth getting out of bed for!
