New School
After the "Old School" blip the other night I think it's only fair that I point out that most of my DJing these days is done using an entirely "New School" format.
I actually taught myself to DJ on Denon S5000's seeing as I'd sold most of my pre-DJ vinyl to fund a less productive habit. Seeing as I had almost all my music on CD at that point it seemed the most obvious approach when I found myself serially appalled at the awful music I found out and about in Perth.
This lady saved me and is still a great friend and inspiration. One of the best House DJ's I've ever known.
They saw me through everything from wee basements in Perth, to all weekend house parties to big outdoor parties to running a night (with one of my best friends Brian) at the Subclub in Glasgow so I owe them a lot.
I've been fannying about with a "baby" mix to celebrate Sorcha's arrival for months now using all the tunes in my collection with "baby" in the title. It's a pretty eclectic mix of styles and I've only manage 50 minutes without properly screwing up a mix so far (Goddamned human drummers!) but I'm determined to finish it.
If anyone's interested, I have a few old mixes up and available for download here.
