Earthquake casualty - old cottage in Forth Street
Went walking round the neighbourhood a different way today and came across the old cottage in Forth Street. Really sad - lovely little two storey cottage, about 150 years old and until the earthquake seemed in good condition. So many of the old brick buildings were double brick without ties holding the two walls of brick together so in the earthquake the outer wall has separated and tumbled down.
Obviously the damage is very extensive - window frames, glass - even the lovely little lantern over the front door. Who knows what the inside is like.
I suppose it will now be demolished - another piece of history lost to the disaster.
