The Monterey Jazz Festival 2010

This is a snap from the 53rd Monterey Jazz Festival. The band performing is the Roy Hargrove Big Band.

My wife and I have been attending this festival for over 15 years. Many folks there have been coming the entire time - yes, 53 years. There's a group of "rainbow people" that perform a colorful human caterpillar weaving throughout the crowd. I hope to get a "blip" of them either Saturday or Sunday.

Monterey California is a beautiful city nestled in the middle of Monterey Bay, a few miles down the road from Carmel, a very famous art hangout for people who like to share their talents with the world. One famous visitor to Carmel was Ansel Adams. He captured many images of Monterey Pines and Cypress trees along the gorgeous coastline. As many of you know, this was also the residence of John Steinbeck who wrote many of his literary masterpieces while enjoying the beautiful nature and cultural history that abounds here.

The festival goes on for 3 days and it is a jazz cornucopia of people, food, art vendors, and talent. I'll be doing a few photos for a local radio station's website, but mostly I'm just here to have fun and enjoy the time with my wife.

Enjoy!
