Rope Swing
Home from work this morning, helped Kaz make another of these cakes to take up to Robyn's house today for dessert! We videoed more of it and had another mild disaster with the blocks of chocolate for the sides being broken in the packet. It required Kaz driving up the street to find some more. Luckily the little supermarket here had three blocks left (we needed three!) so it was a crisis averted!
We went over to Robyn's and she cooked a beautiful roast lamb for lunch, then we had cake, then we went for a walk. Kurt had a go on the rope swing that is on the side of the dirt road they live off so I took a few pics! Spence loved watching Kurt and wanted to have a go too!
We came home and Kaz got packed up to go to the airport hotel because she is flying to Auckland, NZ, tomorrow to give a presentation for a tender on Tuesday. I have had to take the night off work to look after Spence! I have two days shifts next Friday and Saturday to go and then I have a month off!
Thanks to everyone to commented on Kaz's cake yesterday! Here are the directions for anyone that wants to give it a go! It's pretty easy!
Chocolate Box Cake
- Bake a chocolate cake in a 20cm square cake tin (remember to line the tin with baking paper!) We used a packet mix!
- Ice the top and sides with dark chocolate ganash (icing made with 200g of dark chocolate and 300ml of double cream)
- Push a block of thin chocolate onto each of the four sides of the cake. The icing should help them stick.
- Tie a ribbon around the outside to help the blocks of chocolate stay where they should be and for presentation.
- Place individual chocolates on the top of the cake in a pattern like they were in a box of chocolates.
- Enjoy!!
Easy huh!! Give it a go and wow your friends!!
