The 30th Great North Run.

This morning we went to the Tyne Bridge to watch the runners taking part in the Great North Run.
It is a half-marathon, run between Newcastle Upon Tyne and South Shields.
Over 54,000 runners were taking part, with a lot of them in fancy dress.
It was exciting, and very moving to watch, as about 80% are running for charity. They are expected to raise over £28 million pounds.
Yesterday was the Junior Great North Run, when 5,000 children ran a mile.
Todays race was won by Haile Gebrselassie, for the men, in 59 minutes 33seconds, and by Berhane Adere, for the women. Both are from Ethiopia.
