My Uncle, the Rev Canon Jack Johnson
We were at my cousins silver wedding, my uncle Jack was there. He's a fine man, 92 years old. Started out in the shipyards of Barrow in Furness (note big scar on his head). Had a calling in the early 1950s and became a Vicar. First in Battersea then Nottingham (Beeston) where he was made a Canon and Rural Dean until his retirement. He has presided over many family weddings (although not ours as he was getting on a bit) and the odd funeral which must have been very difficult.
I remember being a small boy staying with the family, lots of hippy children, beer, and forthright language. A wonderful memory for me.
