Katse Dam, Lesotho

There aren't enough pixels here to appreciate how majestic these flooded valleys were. All I can say is that those are mountains, the size of mountains, and the reflecting pools are the size of lakes. We made it about 80km into the Highlands Water Project before having to turn around because we were worried about petrol. The roads hugging these peaks are outstanding, but the grade was almost too much for the Kia (at one point I spent about 30 mins red-lining in first gear to keep us moving). The shadows that cut into most of the curves had snow in them, also a driving challenge. If you ever make it to Lesotho, come here.
