Dandelion

A mellow day in Christchurch today - light breeze, soft sun, not too hot, not too cold. After some large aftershocks midweek, things seem to have settled down. Always a little curious about words, I looked up the etymology of "dandelion". Apparently, this herb is named for the jagged shape of its leaves - from the French dent-de-lion, meaning "tooth of the lion". Other names include priest's crown, swine's snout, cankerwort, and blowball.

So there's some Sunday trivia for you. Have a good week everyone!
