... Earl of Windsor, Earl of Dumfries, Baron Cardiff 1847-1900 - you get the picture - he was well connected.
Along with the Second and Fourth Marquesses he had a lot to do with the birth of Cardiff as a major European city. Whereas the First Marquess built the docks upon which the growth and prosperity of the city was to depend, the Third Marquess was more connected with literary and scholarly endeavours taking the position of President of University College, Cardiff in 1890, amongst other roles.

This statue is to be found in a small secluded triangular park which is surrounded by roads opposite the Cardiff Hilton Hotel - a place I often eat my lunchtime sandwiches.
