Grandma
I adore my Mother in law. And my kids adore her as well. When they see her car pull up to our curb, they drop everything and run to door screaming her name. She is welcomed like a queen each and every single time. My daughter always wants her to immediately start coloring with her. And my son always has something to show her. She always takes the time to follow the kids around as they are excitedly telling her stories. She always takes the time with them. And that is why she will always be such an important and special woman in their lives.
Today, my Mom in law dropped by to say hi and to invite us to lunch. She said to the kids, "Well, where would you like to eat?" And I am not joking, without skipping a beat, my son sings, "SUBWAY.....EAT FRESH!". So subway it was. The four of us sat by the window and enjoyed our sandwiches together. She even bought four chocolate chip cookies for dessert. We then decided to stroll through a nearby goodwill. We share our love for consignment and goodwill shopping. You never know when you will find the FIND of a lifetime. And it is nice to be able to pick up some gently used clothes for the kids because like Nordic Angel said in her blip a couple of days ago, shopping second hand is environmentally friendly. And I couldn't agree with her more.
For the rest of the afternoon, we ran errands together. Mostly my errands but she was happy to spend the time running around with us. I finished my framing project that I have been involved with for the past two days. I was able to pick up my large order of 8 X 10's and 5 X 7's that I had developed for our extended family. Group photos from our family reunion in July. I also had my Nana and Pop photo printed out for every member in the family. 11 of them will be hung up on the wall in each of our houses because they are so special to each of us. And it feels so good to be able to share the photographs now, instead of telling myself that 'one of these days I'll get to it'. It's been a productive couple of days.
And tomorrow. Well tomorrow is going to be a blip treat for you all. Tomorrow my husband will be building us a pantry in our laundry room. And I......drum roll please.....I will begin "Operating Painting Our Kitchen Cabinets White". Oh I have wanted to do this for so long and I have talked up my abilities so high in the last two days and my husband is on board with my plan. Well, pretty much on board. And the plan is so simple. Our kitchen cabinets are outdated due to the oak stain. But other than that, they look good. With a little white paint, I'm gonna pull that Craftsman Style look right out of them. So my husband says, "Now you aren't going to just get distracted and wander off halfway through are you?". My mind immediately pondered this, "will I?", but instead I heard myself say, "Of course I am not going to wander away from this, beginning to end baby!". So I have set myself up for a huge project. But one that will make a huge difference in our house. And I do love to be productive. And I will have my little helpers too. It will be a family affair.
So who knows what tomorrow's blip will be. Hopefully not a can of spilled paint on our tile slate floor.............aaaah just kidding. I'll be more careful than that! Nighty-o blippers and blip readers!
