Grace in dereliction
Had a meeting today at the Children's Hospital, and this meant meandering around the 'city' part of the centre, where the law courts are, solicitors' offices, banks and some of the older, beautiful buildings of Birmingham. It's quite a strange contrast to the rest of the city, somewhat sad with once proud, but now abandoned structures which, when constructed, were presumably monuments to Brum's success as an industrial city. This is the Methodist Central Hall, built 1903 and Grade II* listed, but now disused apart from certain nights being given over to a club ('Que'), the thought of which is a bit jarring.
