The Bench

I like this bench, there's something very rural and peaceful about it - which is surprising as it is only a matter of yards from the Birmingham ring road!

There are so many contrasts round here, quite a few tower blocks, derelict buildings, lots of traffic, the ugly old shopping centre at Five Ways - but just round the corner, there are quiet tree lined streets, lovely old houses and this great bench.

Occasionally someone will be sitting there eating their lunch or chatting on the phone when I walk past, but mostly it is empty - giving out an air of calm peacefulness.
