Wetstone Wall

The walls in the Lake District are made of a drystone construction. That means the stones are carefully selected and locked together without using any cement/mortar.

They are surprisingly robust and last over 150 years.

This particular one is exactly 100 years old.

It is at Cragwood, the head office of the company I work for.

The design incorporated in the original wall is more recent, possibly 10-15 years ago.

Dry stone walls are built, using different styles, all over the UK
The style of construction varies dependant on the type of stone available.

Why the title for today's blip? I hear you ask.

Well it is a wet wall as it's tipping it down again!
