Rainy Koenji, Tokyo. Day 7.
A very rainy day here in Koenji. Thunder claps so loud that they shake the ryokan walls have been booming since we woke up.
The only time we managed to leave the house was to eat! We've discovered that piling on the pounds in Japan is not as hard as you might think what with all the deep fried tempura, delicious but super fatty gyoza (dumplings) and our new favourite calorific treat - crepes.
Crepes of all variations are (far too) readily available and very, very yummy. Our favourite is the cream, banana and chocolate sauce one....I can feel myself wobble as I type. Today, we discovered that there is in fact one of these creparies (Momi&Toys) practically at the end of our street, in Koenji station.
After trying and failing to use the machine where you place your pancake order, we hid behind a pillar and spied on the commuters until one of them came to use it so we could see what we had to do!
Here is the man making our rainy day treat (yum, yum, yum! Look at it steaming!).
