Beech Nuts

These pretty little beechnuts came from a local wood. Yesterday I went out into the wood and took a photo. Today I went out into the wood and brought some of it back! The actual nut is gone but the casings are a lovely shape. If you were a romantic, you might say that they look like fairy hats. I think they just look like beechnut kernels but they're one of nature's gems.
